History of Satta Matka in India

The satta game is the ancient game of lottery.it was introduced by Kalyan Bhagat Ji in 1962 and was also emerged by Ratan Khatri in 1964s. the founders of the game started this lottery game which was liked by masses in the early ’90s. the game quickly saw immense popularity which later saw some differences by the law. The game went through a lot of time as it was not legalised in the country. but the founders made it possible to run for the popularity that it gained.

In the initial years of the game, it was to be played in a simple system. The basic was to put numbers written in the chits and put in earthen pots. Any individual would draw the chits from there pots known as ‘matka’ in the Hindi language. In this way, it was referred to as satta guessing.

With an interesting history of Kalyanji Bhagat who ran a grocery store in Worli, came up with Worli matka. Rattan Khatri established new Worli matka. The game reached its peak in the 1990s.

The first phase of the game included playing on rates of cotton from Bombay stock exchange. It was nothing but a lottery system where the predictions on the rates were done. These rates were sent through teleprinters. This makes it evident that the gambling started even before independence.

That time it was referred to as ‘Akada Jugad’ which is a Hindi term for the word ‘figures gambling’ This guessing game was satta game. the emerging times of textile mill had numerous numbers of workers. most of the workers from the mills then found the game very interesting.  Hence, many of the bookies opened their shops in and around mill areas. And eventually, this Satta Matka game started spreading in Mumbai.

The founders of the game made sure about consistent and immediate results. Because of this, the game was spread wide across in north of the country as well as in Mumbai. Till date, three individuals hold the position of satta king namely Kalyan Ji Bhagat, Ratan Khatri and Suresh Bhagat.
